Before, During and After Reading
Oral Language
Who does your child love? After introducing the book, ask your child if there is someone is his life that he loves very much (mother, father, sibling, grandparent, etc.). You might show digital pictures or photos of family members and ask him to explain why he loves each person and how he shows that person how much he loves them.
Oral Language
Act out the motions. Throughout the story have your child act out the motions that Little Nutbrown Hare does to show how much he loves Big Nutbrown Hare. For example, when Little Nutbrown Hare stretches out his arms, reaches high, or hops as high as he can, have your child do the same. This is also a great time for you to do the motions as well. For example, when Big Nutbrown Hare shows Little Nutbrown Hare how high he can jump, your child will love to see you try to jump as high as you can.
Oral Language
Tell your child how much you love him throughout the day. Use some of the phrases in the book or make up your own to let your child know how much you love him. How many new ways can you think of to let your child know he is loved?
